Sam Shaffer
General Manager
Sam is responsible for the estimation, sales, project management, and overall operations of the company. He has been instrumental in growing the Sheet Metal, Inc. business the last three years. With his knowledge, relationship building skills, and tenacity, he has helped the company more than triple its revenue with strong team support. A natural proactive leader, he motivates his staff through coaching and training as a team. Customers appreciate his experience and forward thinking solutions for their projects, and he continually works to improve the customer experience. Sam is also responsible for maintaining relationships with the suppliers and vendors to create a seamless process for both Sheet Metal, Inc. and the customer.
Sam has been the construction industry for over 25 years working for a restoration company and another general construction company in the Wichita area. His experience includes construction estimation, sales, project management, and field supervision. Sam has multiple certifications which keep him up-to-date within the construction industry. Sam and his wife, Nikki, have five sons and two grandchildren. Sam and Nikki reside in Wichita. He enjoys spending time with his family at the lake, fixing up old classic cars, hunting and fishing.
Darrell Johnson
Project Manager
Darrell collaborates with the client, general contractor, and architect to ensure Sheet Metal Inc’s portion of project is delivering the right solution on the job site. Part of his responsibility includes working closely with the contractor and architect on the design portion of the project by offering his expertise on the architectural sheet metal, wall panels, flashing, and coping on various types of buildings. He works with the general contractor on scheduling and coordination to ensure the project is completed within the quality standards and time frame of the project owner. He is also involved with reviewing, bidding, acquiring materials, and assignments of work crews to install wall panels, soffit panels, associated flashing and coping on commercial building projects. He is committed, dedicated, and highly motivated in his position.
Darrell has been with SMI for over 20 years and brings over 37 years of sheet metal experience to the team. He previously was the shop manager and oversaw all fabrication and installation of the sheet metal projects. He has worked on iconic projects around the Wichita area that include Friends University, Butler County Community College, Wichita State University, USD 259 Wichita Schools, and the Epic Center. Darrell has received many certifications through roofing manufacturers for installation and has his OSHA 10 certificate. When not working, Darrell enjoys woodworking, hunting, and raising chickens on his land outside Clearwater.
